The 2017+ L5P Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 is the most powerful Duramax ever made (445 hp / 910 lb-ft stock) and arguably the best HD-truck diesel engine on the market. Tuning makes it dramatically more capable — towing performance, throttle response, mileage on long highway pulls, all benefit from a good EFILive tune.
The catch: GM rolled out new security on the L5P E90 ECM that doesn't exist on older Duramax platforms (LB7 / LLY / LBZ / LMM / LML are all open to tuning without bench unlock). The L5P specifically requires the ECM to be bench-unlocked before EFILive or HP Tuners can read or write.
This is where most L5P owners get stuck: they buy an EFILive AutoCal V3 expecting to flash a tune like they would on an older Duramax, and instead get "security access denied". The community fix is bench unlock — and that's what we provide.
