UNIVERSAL · DTC LOOKUP
PCM security access denied — Tuner software refuses to read/write PCM — security access denied
Universal diagnostic code. Below: what it means, common causes, symptoms, and the exact bench-programming fix path.
Common causes
- •Factory security on the PCM/TCM blocks aftermarket tuner access
- •Stellantis or GM security update silently re-locked a previously-unlocked PCM (post-dealer-service common)
- •PCM is a new model year that tuner software doesn't yet bypass
- •Aftermarket cal previously flashed and then re-locked by dealer service
Symptoms you'll see
- •Tuner software shows "security access denied"
- •Read request fails immediately
- •Write request fails immediately
- •No diagnostic codes thrown (this is a tuner-side issue, not a vehicle DTC)
The fix path
PCM Unlocking Service ($149) — bench-level unlock via direct chip access. Removes the security restriction so tuner software reads + writes normally after. Works on Chrysler GPEC2/2A, GM T87A/T93 TCMs, GM E41/E90/E93 ECMs.
